Keyboard Pasting

You can paste clips from Spartan using the keyboard only. To set this up, first go to Options on the Tools menu.

In the Activation by hot key section, choose a hot key to activate Spartan. You need to choose a key or key combination that is not used in the programs you will be working in. Now, whenever you want to paste a clip, type your chosen hot key and Spartan will appear over your work.

Next, on the View / Options menu, select one of the keyboard pasting methods.

If you select one of the Paste Letter methods, a mask of characters appears over the sheet and you paste a clip by typing the character next to it. Using paste letters will normally allow you to paste any given clip with the minimum of keystrokes.

In a small view, such as the clipboard only (shown above), you would only ever have to type one character.

If you select the Arrow Keys and Enter method, a single cell is highlighted. You move the highlight with the arrow keys and paste the highlighted clip with the enter key. This method will need more keystrokes to paste any given clip but it does have these advantages:

1. You can see the highlighted clip in the preview window.

2. You can operate the special function buttons from the keyboard. Just type the first character of the button name. "N" for Net "D" for Dial Etc.

3. You can operate the right click menu from the keyboard. Use Ctrl + The Down Arrow.
